No word yet on whether the hit-and-run driver in Tuesday’s car-bike collision has been tracked down. But Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin shared some more information about the crash, in which a 74-year-old man on a bike was hit by a car at First and Jefferson:
The driver of the vehicle is reported to have run through a traffic [control] device, and struck the bicyclist head on. The victim was trapped under the vehicle. [The driver] left her car as the victim was trapped under it. She ran east across Washington Jefferson park, approached traffic on Washington Street and entered the other vehicle … a green Jeep Wrangler soft top, two door.
McLaughlin said she was waiting to hear back from the investigating officer to learn whether the driver had been found.
