Police looking for hit and run motorist

Just in from EPD:

NEWS RELEASE — October 18, 2011
Police Search for Hit and Run Suspect

At 4:09 p.m. today a white jeep collided with a bicyclist at 1st and Jefferson. The female driver of the jeep fled the scene on foot.

The bicyclist, a 74-year-old male from Eugene, was taken to a local hospital with what appear to be non life threatening injuries.

The female who fled is described as a white female in her early 30s, 5’5″ tall, 130-140 pounds, with long bleached blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, dark jeans, and pink backpack.

After the crash, she ran across a nearby park and jumped into another vehicle (unknown description) that drove away. It is unknown if the driver of that vehicle knew the suspect, or if they picked her up thinking her in distress.

If anyone has relevant information in the case, they are urged to call Officer Ben Mainard 541.682.5154, extension 1176.

My coworker was on the scene as this happened, and yes, it is just as weird as it sounds.
