Hit-and-run suspect turns herself in

Regarding the hit and run on a bicyclist last week, this just in from Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda V. McLaughlin:

The suspect in the hit-and-run has turned herself in to an outside agency. She was taken into custody at 2 a.m. on Oct. 24.

Her name is Kimberlee Rose May, age 24. She has been charged with vehicular assault of a bicycle, failure to perform duties of a driver.

McLaughlin adds that the Jeep that May was driving when she collided with the cyclist was owned by an acquaintance. And the motorist who picked May up and drove her away did not know her, McLaughlin said, but thought she was in distress.
